Designing and Making, Project Management, Work Schedule, Time Plan
Designing
Individually pupils will use the range of designing skills developed
throughout Key stage 3. Individually they will be supported and
extended in specific areas of need through specific support tasks
or extended activities. The furtherance of skills of communication,
particularly engineering drawing. Pupils will be encouraged to
be more responsible for the management of their project, keeping
records, recording design decisions, exploring new processes.
On-going time management sheets to be completed as the project
proceeds. These sheets will also contain notes on any changes
to design or construction ideas as the project develops. Final
time plans can be transferred to spreadsheet and/or graphs in
order that pupils can use ICT to readily update their project
management . This will show individual time spent on tasks highlighting
possible areas of weakness.
Making
Working individually each pupil will follow their prepared working schedule and time plan during manufacture. A number of processes will be involved:
- Brazing – re-enforce previous knowledge
- Forming a Twist – whole class demonstration
- Forming a Scroll – whole class demonstration
